M Riaz Khan, PhD

Professor Khan is on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In addition to teaching and research in his field of Operations Research, Dr. Khan has held several administrative positions, including the Chair of the Department of Operations and Information Systems, and the SBI Director. He is a recipient of numerous honor awards from his institution and academic circles.

In addition to research and publication in his academic field of specialization, Prof. Khan has regularly contributed articles on a wide range of topics from the Islamic perspective. His writings aim at projecting the global view of Islam and its moral imperative of improving race relations and understanding within and across various segments of society for peaceful co-existence. As society is paramount in Islam, his presentations frequently pivot toward the necessity of civic engagement.

As “Justice of the Peace,” Dr. Khan provides voluntary social and family services to the area community. He is a past President of the Islamic Council of New England, a regional organization.    

He holds MA, MBA, and PhD from the State University of New York/Buffalo.
